Who is Journalist Raghav Trivedi attacked by BJP supporters in Amit Shah’s rally?

Raghav Trivedi, a journalist affiliated with the digital platform Molitics, reported being physically assaulted and forcibly confined during a rally addressed by Amit Shah in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.

Trivedi recounted the ordeal to Newslaundry, detailing how he was subjected to verbal abuse, including being called “mullah” and “attanki” (terrorist) by BJP workers. The assault allegedly stemmed from Trivedi’s inquiry about a video clip suggesting that women were paid to attend the rally.

Trivedi told The Indian Express from the hospital, “I came from Delhi to cover ground reports in Rae Bareli and Amethi. During Shah’s rally, I interviewed women and many of them said they were brought to the event by their village pradhan with the promise they would be paid Rs 100. I also spoke to some people who were leaving the rally venue without waiting for the speech to end. When I enquired why they were leaving early, they said they were getting late. Then, I approached local BJP leaders to question them about these statements.”

Who is Journalist Raghav Trivedi?

Raghav Trivedi, a journalist associated with the YouTube news channel ‘Molitics,’ found himself at the center of an incident during Amit Shah’s rally in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. Trivedi, who also works as a reporter for National Dastak. He was also an Assistant Professor of Media Studies at Gyanarthi Media.

Further, he is engaged in social work with the ITDM NGO. Trivedi’s educational background includes studies at the University of Delhi and Jai Narayan Vidya Mandir in Kanpur. Currently residing in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Trivedi hails from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Press Club of India calls for strict action

The Press Club of India issued a strong condemnation on Sunday regarding the assault on a journalist while he was covering Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.

“Journalists in their day-to-day reportage have been subjected to regular physical intimidation, harassment and attack,” said the press body.

Sanjeet Sahni, a cameraman who was with Trivedi during the incident, filed a First Information Report (FIR). The complaint led to the filing of a case against unidentified individuals under Sections 147, 323, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code.
