Ground Report | New Delhi: Ambreen Zaidi, author and columnist, Tweeted to express her displeasure at NDTV for misquoting her on the Hijab controversy. In the same tweet, the author demanded rectification.

In one of tweets, the leading media house NDTV tweeted a graphics quoting Zaidi on the Hijab controversy, “It’s the girls’ choice to wear a hijab. They have been wearing hijab since they were 2-3 years old.” To which Zaidi tweeted tagging the official handle of NDTV, “please rectify.” The whole tweet read, “Misquoted. I said if that is a choice then let the girls study & decide how can it be a choice for 2-3-year-old girls! @ndtv please rectify.”

In another tweet, Zaidi said, taking a dig at NDTV, “You can misquote me as much as you want,” and “ask your editors to work on their grammar.” NDTV took later took down tweet.

Rahul Roushan, CEO of OpIndia, shared a thread of tweets sharing a screenshot of Ambreen Zaidi’s conversation with one of the NDTV’s representative. Rahul tweet read, ‘Okay looks like NDTV being NDTV in the above particular case’.

Now, NDTV is facing widespread criticism on social media.

Twitter user Neelabh wrote, “Lesson no. 1, while dealing with always @ndtv, keep you parallel recording. A small and convenient reshuffle of your quote is the least expected, when they have snipped interviews and reconnected them to make the answers conducive to their agenda”.

Another user replied to the tweet, “Don’t expect anything better from NDTV. They twist the statements to suit to their agenda. I was wondering since yesterday that how could you give this statement?”
