Senior IPS officer Dinkar Gupta was appointed Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) by the Center on Thursday.
“The Cabinet Appointments Committee approved Gupta’s appointment as Director-General, NIA until March 31, 2024, which is the date of his retirement,” a new order reads.

In another development, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Special Director, Swagat Das, has been appointed as Special Secretary, Internal Security, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Mr. Das, an IPS officer from the 1987 batch of the Chhattisgarh cadre, will hold the post until November 30, 2024, according to the order.
