A harrowing accident unfolded as heavy rainfall disrupted train services between Thakurli and Kalyan, leading to a heart-wrenching incident where a four-month-old girl was swept away in a nearby stream.

Tragedy struck when a 4-month-old baby lost their life by drowning in an overflowing nallah near Kalyan. The incident occurred as stranded locals attempted to cross the treacherously slippery track.

After the train stopped for over 2 hours due to a flooded track, this man made the decision to disembark and walk alongside the tracks, carrying his 4-month-old baby in his arms. Unfortunately, the baby slipped and fell into the swiftly flowing water of the nearby nallah.

Despite the father’s immediate rescue attempts, the swift current of the nullah presented a formidable challenge, rendering the rescue efforts futile.

Yogita Rumale, a 25-year-old woman, inadvertently fell into the fast-flowing waters as she tried to alight from the train alongside her father.

According to the railway police, Yogita Rumale and her father were traveling from Mumbai to Bhivandi when their train came to a stop due to heavy rainfall. While attempting to disembark from the halted train, Yogita encountered a dangerous slip that resulted in her losing her balance and falling into a nearby stream.

Tragically, as she desperately fought to regain her balance, the four-month-old girl she was holding inadvertently slipped from her grasp and plunged into the swift and unforgiving current of the stream.

Railway police and rescue team search for missing baby

The railway police and the rescue team acted quickly upon receiving the distress call, going to the place to start the search and rescue operation for the missing baby. They have been tirelessly scouring the banks of the creek and Kalyan Creek, hoping to locate the girl and ensure she returns safely to her family.

The incident has deeply affected the local community, which is offering its assistance and support to the rescue team. Residents of the nearby areas are helping with the search efforts, praying for a miracle and a positive outcome.

As the region experiences heavy rain and possible flooding, authorities are reminding the public to use extra caution during travel and outdoor activities.

Yogita Rumale’s family and the entire community hold on to the hope of the baby’s safe return and join in prayer during this difficult time.
