On Independence Day, a remarkable sense of enthusiasm was evident among the people of Jammu and Kashmir, with a significant turnout at the event. A former Vice President of JNU Students Union (JNUSU) and a member of the All India Students Union (AISA) Shehla Rashid praised the efforts of the central government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the deputy governor of Jammu and Kashmir for their contributions in improving the situation in the valley.
She acknowledged the positive change in the human rights situation in Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and the administration of Jammu and Kashmir.
Shehla Rashid tweeted “However inconvenient it may be to admit this, the human rights record in Kashmir has improved under the @narendramodi government and @OfficeOfLGJandK administration. By a purely utilitarian calculus, the govt’s clear stance has helped save lives overall. That’s my angle.”
Shehla Rashid, a former Vice President of JNU Students Union (JNUSU) and a member of All India Students Union (AISA), has garnered attention for various reasons. She has faced a legal case for making disparaging comments about the Indian Army. Rashid is known for her opposition to the ideologies of the BJP government and the RSS.
