Lone bravery is slowly but surely starting to surface accounts of awful cruelty. Despite knowing full well that their own lives would soon be in grave danger, people dropped everything and fled in the face of tens of merciless, armed terrorists in order to rescue lives.

Lieutenant Colonel Guy Madar’s Heroism

One such hero is Lieutenant Colonel Guy Madar, a career army officer from Israel. On May 22, 2022, Madar was celebrating Simchas Torah in Kiryat Gat, located a 30-minute drive from Re’im. Upon hearing about a terrorist incursion, he immediately drove south armed only with his personal pistol.

Upon arriving in the region of Re’im, Madar encountered a severely wounded Golani soldier. As he was assisting the soldier into his car, a Hamas terrorist opened fire on them. Displaying quick thinking and bravery, Madar managed to evade the gunfire and fatally shoot the terrorist. He then used the soldier’s gun to eliminate another five terrorists on motorcycles.

Madar defends against terrorists bravely

After ensuring the wounded soldier was transferred to a field hospital, Madar joined forces with a policeman heading southward. They were once again attacked by terrorists, resulting in both of them sustaining leg injuries and their car veering off the road. Despite being left in a ditch and injured, Madar continued to defend himself and others by eliminating more terrorists.

Madar’s ordeal didn’t end there. When IDF forces arrived at the scene two hours later, they initially mistook him for one of the terrorists due to his civilian clothes. Weak from loss of blood and unable to convince them of his identity, it seemed like Madar’s end was near. However, in a dramatic turn of events, one soldier noticed his tzitzis (a traditional Jewish garment) and recognized him as an ally.

Madar was then rushed to Beilinson Hospital where he underwent surgery and is currently receiving treatment. His story serves as an inspiring testament to courage and quick thinking in the face of danger.

A Hamas terrorist attacked Guy’s vehicle, but he managed to escape and kill the assailant. Using the soldier’s weapon, Guy eliminated five additional terrorists who were on motorcycles.

After ensuring the soldier was transferred to a field hospital, Guy teamed up with a policeman heading south. They were once again targeted by terrorists.

Both Guy and the policeman sustained injuries to their legs, causing their vehicle to veer off the road. Despite being left in a ditch and injured, Guy continued to neutralize more terrorists after applying a tourniquet to his wounded leg. He spent two hours in the ditch surrounded by numerous deceased terrorists before IDF forces arrived.
